Six Sentence Sunday – Week 43

For Six Sentence Sunday, I moved through my WIP slush pile and found a few sentences I wanted to share from a short story about a ghost, her lover, and an old woman’s will.

“Lord knows the world is filled with foolish children. If you figured out sooner what you wanted to do with your lives, you’d be happier.”

“How long have you been preaching that sermon, Poppy?”

“Don’t rightly know, girl. Been saying it to you since you moved in here and it hasn’t made a bit of difference I can see. That’s why I keep preaching.”

Nice exchange. Who’s doing the preaching?

I like it. Whoever is doing the preaching has a unique voice.

  3. Great dialogue. Love the great-grandmother and she’s right!
