Only seven days left before day one of the 2012 RWA National Conference, and yes, I. AM. EXCITED!
For the past six years, I’ve attended the RWA national conference, and each year, it gives me a year’s worth of inspiration. Not just the workshops, the speakers, or mingling at the bar, but it’s also all about the opportunity to reconnect with friends, and the chance to meet new friends who share my love of reading and writing popular fiction. Well, I find RWA National always delivers a damn good time…
But it is also the most hectic, nerve racking and, if you let it, depressing conference ever! Why the latter? It’s a benchmark. What did I promise to get done last year that actually got done? What change in my writing status can I point to and say – this got done? For some of us, that list is tremendous, and for others, it is smaller, but I believe if you’ve been reading and kept writing – then consider yourself (as do I) as having made progress.
So with that said – here I go again, using the RWA conference as my stake in the sand. And guess what? I’m going to not only put that stake out there, I’m going to blog about it – every single day beginning Monday, July 23 through the final night’s gala and award presentations!
You’ll find me posting here and at the Waterworld Mermaid blog and I’ll have special guest interviews, book giveaways and bunches of photos to share, plus the scoop on workshops, speakers and what’s the buzz. So if you’re in Anaheim look me up, but if you can’t make it, check out the blogs – my goal is to share a tidbit a day that will make you say – yeah, I knew that, or I saw her, or I’ll have to check that out next year!
So the blogging begins Monday, and let’s kick off RWA Nationals week with a bang (or a good book:)!
Exciting indeed! It’s will be my first year at RWA Nationals, and I’m getting even further excited by checking out the #RWA2012 hashtag on Twitter (which is where I found a link to this post!). I hope to be able to follow your posts through the conference. 🙂
Your first time!!!! Enjoy! There’s a lot to do and a lot of people to meet. So get ready for a whirlwind.
