o-SCANDAL-SEASON-3-POSTER-570There’s something addictive about a TV show that makes you want to holler out loud, shout at your TV, and forget to close your mouth (even during commercials). Yes, that’s the kind of TV I expect when I sit down in front of my 55-inch screen to watch ABC’s SCANDAL. And since I’ve decided to write reviews this season for every new episode, I decided I needed a hook, and had an idea for a new rating system. I call it the OMG (Oh, my God) review (and rating system). It is based solely on the moments when I screeched at my TV screen and yelped Oh, my God! (I like to keep these things simple). Sometimes there were other expletives used during the watching of Episode 3.1, but hey, you can’t watch SCANDAL and not want to curse here or there, or shout at the screen (but there was enough shouting going on in last night’s episode by the actors, so maybe next week, I’ll keep it to an anguished whisper).

But let’s get to it. What were the OMG moments (and beware, there will be SPOILERS  included here-in, but OMG, some of this shit defies reality – and more on that in a moment).

The Plot – Did I buy the flow/content of the episode? It was the most outrageous of all of the episodes ever (and the most unbelievable). So many twists and turns it out twisted and turned, the best of SCANDAL . Did I love every twist? No. There were a few – two – where I just thought why? Namely, the “secret’ mission at the end. I was like – let us breathe, writers. Come on! But the brilliance of the bait and switch about who actually leaked Olivia’s name and why? Frankly, that was damn brilliant . So for plot OMGs, SCANDAL earned 3.5!

Best Daddy Quotes:

“…I am the hell and the high water,” said Daddy.

“Raise your skirt and open your knees to a man with too much power…” said Daddy.

And OMG – his entire speech was sublime. It was an impressive introductory monologue for Daddy and I expect more goodness from Joe Morton (he’s been a favorite actor of mine for a long while – remember SPEED:)!

Other big scene stealers include Abby’s new hair (seriously, the actress Darby S. has a new hot look, and she was working it!). As for showing off their acting chops,  my second favorite couple on the show Cyrus and James in the hallway scene rocked it. I loved Cyrus’ line after the big kiss in the West Wing – “Sweetheart!”

I got a bit exhausted after the second commercial break, and had to turn off Twitter, but one scene (subplot) that didn’t work for me had to do with Columbus Short – not so much what his character was being asked to do – its just that I can’t get a handle on Harrison (Columbus Short). Does he love Olivia? Why does his loyalty exceed every boundary? Why is he willing to go further than anyone else on the team (outside of Huck who’ll just kill a MF who messes with Liv), but seriously writers – you need to give me some more backstory on Harrison!).

SCANDAL scored 4.1 OMGs for “It’s Handled” out of FIVE (losing points for a few scenes where the actors shouted too much, and where I need more on Harrison, but OMGs galore on the scene with Fitz, Olivia and Mellie in the bunker!

Okay, next week, I’ll watch with the goal of writing this post and will get deeper into my OMG method.

And oh yeah, “Refrain from calling me a whore…at least in front of my face,” said Liv to Mellie.

Nuance OMGs? – Mellie was the smartest bitch in the room!

What did you think about last night’s episode? Sound off! and don’t forget to rate the OMGs!
