Well, Ms. Robin Covington tagged me over at Facebook for the Lucky 7 Meme, and I am happy to oblige. Here are a few lines from my manuscript, Gideon.

In what had to be the scariest moment of their lives, Macy had never seen Darla look so pissed.

That was saying quite a bit considering she’d known Darla since they were twelve. Whey they first met, Macy had to pull Darla off of a group of sixth grade boys she was pummeling to death. They were in the playground at St. Sebastian’s Elementary School in Hyde Park and one of the boys had grabbed Darla’s ass. It had to do with a dare about the color of a girl’s panties. Darla punched all five of them in the balls, super-fast, like machine gunfire, leaving them huddled on the ground, rolling and screeching in pain.

Twenty-five years later, the ball-busting technique was still the way Darla ran her life.

In this photo, Dorothy Dandridge has a lot of the earthy edge of my character Macy.

Kathleen Turner from her early roles is Darla in my mind.
